DC-area forecast: A pleasantly mild Easter Sunday

A somewhat subjective rating of the day's weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

8/10: A delightful Easter Sunday with partly sunny skies and highs in the 60s. Chances of rain will hold off throughout the day.

  • Today: Partly sunny. Is it raining in the PM? Highs: Mid to upper 60s.
  • Tonight: overcast Showers and a chance of a shower. Lows: Upper 40s to low 50s.
  • Tomorrow: Partly mostly cloudy. Highs: 60s.

Partly sunny and comfortably mild temperatures will make for a pleasant Easter Sunday outside. However, the chance of rain will increase tonight, with occasional showers tomorrow through Wednesday. Unfortunately, the wavering nature of the nearby front means an unreliable forecast for the timing and amount of rain Monday through Wednesday.

Today (Easter Sunday): Temperatures around sunrise will range from the 40s to near 50s, so if you're heading out early, be sure to grab a jacket. However, with partly sunny skies, we should progress into the mid to upper 60s. An afternoon shower south or southwest of DC can't be ruled out, with 5 to 10 mph winds out of the northwest. Confidence: Medium High

Tonight: Clouds thicken, isolated showers possible in the evening, then widespread overnight showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the low 40s to low 50s overnight. Confidence: Low Medium

Tomorrow (Monday): The White House's Easter Egg Roll and the Nationals' home opener, along with other outdoor activities, are bad times for a low-confidence forecast. Any overnight showers may present a chance for an isolated morning shower and a chance for scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. But wet conditions with heavy rainfall are still possible. Stay tuned for updates. Either way, it should be partly cloudy with highs in the 60s. Confidence: Low

Tomorrow night: It will remain isolated with a chance of widespread showers and thunderstorms by mid-evening, with heavy showers likely during the evening and overnight hours. Otherwise cloudy with highs in the mid 40s to near 50. Confidence: Low

Several rounds of rain are likely Tuesday to Wednesday, Thunderstorms are also possible. There should also be dry periods. As we get closer, we'll try to break down the wet and dry periods. Highs on Tuesday should be in the 50s to mid-60s, while Wednesday's highs will be in the mid-50s to near 60. Confidence: Low
