Traffic stop in New Harbour results in arrest of impaired driver

WHITBOURNE, N.L.

On Friday, Jan. 4, at approximately 10 p.m., Whitbourne RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a burnt out headlight and brakelight on Route 80 in New Harbour.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from the community, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. Police issued a driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded.

The man was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
