One dead, two injured in single vehicle accident near Roddickton

RCMP has confirmed that a 33-year-old woman is dead after a single-vehicle accident near Roddickton Tuesday evening.

The Roddickton-Bide Arm RCMP detachment responded to the accident around 8:00 pm .

Police say the vehicle had left an embankment near the intersection of route 433 and 434 on the outskirts of Roddickton.

Three people were aboard the vehicle when they arrived.

All three occupants were transported to the nearest medical clinic in Roddickton. Police have since learned that one of the occupants has succumbed to her injuries.

The two other patients have been transferred to the hospital in St. Anthony. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The highway was closed for approximately 90 minutes Wednesday morning due to the accident.

As of Wednesday afternoon, an RCMP traffic analyst was on the scene to assist the local detachment in the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and will include examination of whether or not seat belts were worn.
