Family safe but family pet has died

L’Anse Amour, N.L.

A L’Anse Amour family has lost their home and family dog to a fire on New Years Eve.

The Forteau and L'Anse au Loup Fire Departments responded to a call of a fire in L’Anse Amour around 3:30 pm, Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze in the small southern Labrador village, but the home was a total loss.

The family of three was not harmed, but the family dog died in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been specified.

The Northern Pen will have more information as it becomes available.
