4 people killed in Labrador crash


LABRADOR STRAITS, N.L. – Four people are dead as a result of a two-car collision on Route 510 between Lodge Bay and Red Bay this morning, Aug. 2.

Forteau RCMP were called to the scene at 7:20 a.m., according to a release.

Police from Forteau and Mary’s Harbour detachments remain on the scene with ambulance and fire personnel. RCMP traffic analysts are headed to the area to investigate the crash.

Route 510 is closed from Lodge Bay to Red Bay and is expected to remain so for most of the day, the release indicated.

Cpl. Rick Mills has confirmed to the Northern Pen that all four passengers were from Newfoundland and Labrador. The identities could not be released at this time as RCMP are in the process of notifying the next of kin. He confirmed there were no survivors aboard the vehicles.

The accident occurred seven kilometres north of Red Bay.
