ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Are you a young person looking to show off your musical chops?

There’s still time to sign up for this year’s Equinor MusicNL NewFound Talent Contest.

For the fifth straight year, the competition is being held during the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival in St. John's.

The contest aims to discover, develop, encourage and showcase young entertainers, and offers professional development prizes valued at over $6,000.

The competition will happen on Saturday, Aug. 4 and culminates the following night with the first-place winner performing on the festival’s main stage in Bannerman Park.

Participants must be under 19 years of age and must perform one song, either an original or a cover. They also have to either play the song live themselves or be accompanied by a live musician.
