Icy road conditions in Kansas, Missouri

Kansas City, Mo. – The Kansas City area received its first snowfall of the season Saturday afternoon. Snow is expected through Saturday evening By early Sunday morning, locals are expecting two to four inches.

While Kansas will get the brunt of this first winter storm, much of Kansas City on the Missouri side will get something, and those amounts increase as you head north and west of the metro. The city sent out a warning to anyone on Wetherby Lake asking people not to park on city streets to ensure effective snow removal.

Overland Park, Kansas, says dozens of plow drivers are ready to go once pavement temperatures drop below freezing, which is expected to happen around 7 p.m. Saturday. The city says it will begin treating streets at that time and plowing when the accumulation begins. The city is asking people to move their vehicle off the street into a driveway or parking lot to accommodate the plows. Stay home if you can, and if you have to drive tonight or Sunday morning, give plows at least 100 feet.
