The ceremony kicked off at 10:00 am with the raising of the Canada flag by Deputy Mayor Krista Howell and singing of O Canada.

Meanwhile, children gathered at the town hall with their bicycles all decorated for Canada Day before heading to the Polar Centre in a parade led by the fire department.

At the arena, prizes were handed out to the three best decorated bikes in the ages five-and-under and five-to-ten categories.

Winning in the five-and-under category were: Harper Richards (first), Alex Dredge (second) and Jake Greene (third). In the five-to-ten category Brian Ward (first), Nathaniel Freake (second) and Cortez Repaje (third) were the winners.

More Canada Day festivities were scheduled later in the morning and for the afternoon, with the annual cake walk, free hotdogs and beverages and the cutting of the Canada Day cake.
