Community Calendar is your new destination for community events in the Northern Peninsula and Southern Labrador.

Space is free and is reserved for non-profit groups and organizations.

Please email listings to Krysta Carroll at northernpencalendar@gmail.com.

Listings should be typed, 50 words or less, and include the community in which your event is being held. You may also include one photo, if you wish, but it cannot be a poster. Listings will run in print as space allows, as well as and online each week. The deadline is Tuesdays the week prior to the edition of the paper in which your listing will run.

Thirteen-year-old Jorja Hinks, pictured with brother Maddox, started a pay it forward project in 2012. Originally from Deer Lake, Jorja has been living in the Goulds for eight years. Her project, Sleep Tight, is in its eighth year and she, along with other volunteers, are collecting new pajamas - sizes newborn to XXL in adult; new books - for babies to teens; and new fuzzy socks, for children of the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Cenre for Christmas. Anyone wishing to donate can contact Gail Sexton or drop off at H&R Block, St. Anthony, on or before Dec. 10. For more information visit Sleep Tight on Facebook, or email jorjasjourneys@gmail.com.

YOUTH CENTRE

Port Saunders - The town of Port Saunders in partnership with local RCMP are in the process of opening a new Youth Center in the Port Saunders Town Center (old Roncalli High). To alleviate costs associated with getting this much-needed venture off the ground, they are looking for the support of surrounding communities in the form of material/financial donations as funding alone will not adequately cover all they would like to offer youth. Any material/financial donations will be graciously accepted. Thank you in advance for anything you may be able to assist with. Your support is greatly appreciated. Contact them through Facebook page Port Saunders Youth Center or email psyouthcenter@gmail.com.
