ST. ANTHONY, NL. – The 38th Annual St. Anthony Winterfest is underway.
Running from March 15-25, Winterfest will feature a series of fun winter activities for locals to partake in this year including snowmobile rallies and races, scavenger hunts, an iceberg dip and a selfie challenge – along with lots of great food.
The winter festival kicked off with the flag-raising ceremony at St. Anthony town hall on March 15.
Later that evening, Tracy Bussey and Caleb Burden were crowned as the 2018 Winterfest Ambassadors at the White Hills Academy gymnasium.
On Friday evening, March 16, it was time to crown Lil’ Miss Winterfest. This year the winner was Megan Parsons.
Through both competitions, local students impressed with their clever answers, musical skills, dancing and sense of humour.
On Sunday afternoon, March 18, the town also held its first ever Iceberg Dip at the Hotel North/Jungle Jim’s parking lot. With fundraising goals eached for all six participants, they all had to dive into a container of ice cold water.
The local fire department was on hand to keep the container full.
As of March 21, over $2,200 was raised and donations were still coming in. All proceeds go to First Step Charity.
