Both Google’s first foldable and its next mid-range smartphone are set to be unveiled together at the company’s annual developer conference, new leaks reveal. On May 10, Google I/O will see the official launch of both the Pixel Fold and the Pixel 7a.
Even if they are announced together, they will not be released at the same time. The Pixel 7a will be available immediately for $499 in four colors — Charcoal, Snow, Sea, and Coral — the latter exclusive to the Google Store.
That’s a $50 increase compared to the Pixel 6a, which, interestingly, will still be on sale after its successor hits the streets. Presumably this means we may see a small price drop from May 10, but that’s just speculation at this point.
The Pixel 7a is rumored to come with a new 64 MP main camera with a 13 MP ultrawide, Tensor G2 SoC, a screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate, and support for wireless charging.
At the other end of Google’s price scale, the Pixel Fold is said to cost $1,799. Pre-orders will start on May 10 on the Google Store and on May 30 from carriers. However, it will only be available on June 27.
