St. Anthony vs. the Straits, a hockey rivalry


This Saturday, the two senior hockey teams from the Northern Peninsula with the longest standing rivalry will be facing off again.

This Saturday, the two senior hockey teams from the Northern Peninsula with the longest standing rivalry will be facing off again.

St. Anthony and the Straits will meet at the Polar Centre in St. Anthony this weekend.

Many of the players have played on opposing teams throughout their minor hockey days and continue to face off during the annual game as senior players.

For the first two periods of the Feb. 10 game, St. Anthony had a commanding lead, but in the third the Straits team bounced back.

The final score was 8-7 for home team St. Anthony at the Polar Centre.

Currently, the St. Anthony team is leading the best of five series by two games.

The game begins at 8:30 Saturday night.
