Youth speech contest launched to celebrate Confederation anniversary

If you’re Canadian between ages 12 to 17 with a knack for writing and a love of politics, combining the two could win you a trip to Ottawa.

For the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Commons are hosting a speech writing competition.

The speech must be between 500 to 750 words and based on the topic "What Parliament Means to Me."

Contest finalists will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Ottawa in June where they will meet with the Speakers of the Senate and the House of Commons, and be recognized at a reception at Parliament.

The deadline for entries is April 21.

More details about the contest are available at the Parliament of Canada's Youth Connection Facebook page.
