ST. ANTHONY, NL – The actions of the public helped the St. Anthony RCMP take an allegedly impaired driver off the road Friday evening, Dec. 1
According to police, a vehicle was reported travelling in the wrong lane on the highway around 8 p.m., causing another vehicle to swerve to avoid a collision.
A 23-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and refusing a breathalizer. As well, his vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.
The arrest probably would not have happened without the help of the public, however, police say.
One of the witnesses at the scene managed to stop the man and detain him until they arrived.
