Evironment Canada has issued freexing rain warnings for much of the province.

The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment, Fire and Emergency Services (FES) says it's monitoring Environment and Climate Change Canada forecast information on an approaching weather system.

About 10-20 millimetres of freezing rain is forecast for Thursday into Friday over a large area of the island portion of the province — mostly central and western regions. This is expected to last over a 18-24-hour period. The Avalon Peninsula and parts of eastern Newfoundland are not included.

FES warns the weather system could potentially impact public utilities and transportation and advised people to exercise caution when travelling, listen to local forecasts and take measures to ensure personal safety.
