PORT AU CHOIX, NL — Icebreaking operations in Port au Choix over the next two days will leave open water in the harbour, advises the Canadian Coast Guard.

The Canadian Coast Guard ship Earl Grey will be conducting harbour breakout today and Tuesday, according to a press release issued today.
Icebreaking activities can cause ice to be pushed instead of broken, and ice can crack or break far away from the location where the icebreaker is working. This can cause risks for safety of people and property, according to the advisory. People are asked to not walk on the ice, remove mobile equipment, and protect permanently affixed property.
