ST. ANTHONY, NL. – Assault charges against St. Anthony pediatrician Dr. Ahemed Abaza have been withdrawn.

Abaza was cleared of five charges of assault and three charges of assault with a weapon or intimidation after the charges were withdrawn on April 18.

The Northern Pen reported in October last year that Abaza had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the time, then acting Labrador-Grenfell Health CEO Barbara Blake informed the Northern Pen that the charges were associated with a private and personal matter.
