RCMP officer sentenced in St. John's to 14-day conditional sentence for assaulting girlfriend
An RCMP officer convicted of assaulting his girlfriend eight years ago has been given a 14-day conditional sentence with one year's probation.
One person was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony with extensive burns to his body after the Flower's Cove RCMP detachment and the Straits Fire Department responded to a house fire in Sandy Cove around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Three people were inside the dwelling at the time of the fire. The house was extensively damaged.
Police were still at the scene this afternoon (Friday) while a fire investigator, as well as a representative of the Fire Commissioner's office were assisting.
