It is with great sadness the family of the late Gordon Hynes announce his passing on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn two sons, Fr. Ambrose, Corner Brook, and Russell (Una); four daughters Hazel, Jocelyn (Lambert), Marie (Fred) of Port au Choix, and Jane (Val) of Port Saunders; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Mildred Rumbolt; brother Edmund Hynes and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Charlotte, wife Lillian in 1985, brother Abe and sister Irene. The family received friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral service took place on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Port au Choix with Fr. Lee Lainey officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery in Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice, or to make a memorial donation you may visit our website at www.fillatre.ca. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Port au Choix.

It is with great sadness the family of the late Kenneth Payne (May 29, 1924 – Jan. 15, 2010) announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 in his 85th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Bertha nee Payne; his daughters Florence (Reg) Reid of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Greta (Curtis) Hutchings of Cow Head, Sandra (Dave), Hewitt of Boyd’s Cove and Trudy Plamondin (Bob) of Lamont, Alberta; his sons Gerald of St. Lawrence, Guy (Ruth), of Cow Head, Darin (Brenda) of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Leon (Cindy), of Quispamsis, New Brunswick; his 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, his brother Emanuel (Bride), of Cow Head, his sister Annie Mae Reid (Eugene) of Cow head, his sisters-in-law Mary Payne (Claude) and Alice Payne, both of Cow Head; his brothers-in-law Lawrence (Sarah) Payne of Cow Head, and Richard (Lucy) Payne, of Pasadena. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Deborah Payne, brothers Alex, Hedley Gerald, and Stanley, sisters Ellen Anne, and Mabel Decker, his grandson Baby Payne, his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Payne and his brothers-in-law Donald Payne and Henry Reid. Also leaving to mourn a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives, family, friends, and extended family, Bob Payne, Mary Payne, Pamela Payne, Rob Downey and Randy Plamondin. The family received family and friends at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Cow Head, on Saturday, and Sunday. The funeral service took place on Monday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jean Brenton Hickman officiating. The burial followed at the church cemetery in Cow Head. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Mary’s Anglican Church Building Fund in Kenneth’s memory would be gracious appreciated by the family. Contact the Reverend at 709-243-2242. It is with great sadness the family of the late Ken Claude Kennedy (Oct. 2, 1928 - Jan. 8, 2010) announce his passing at the Bonne Bay Health Centre on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, in his 81st year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories and great love, his wife Marion, (nee Payne); children Meta (Lloyd) Carpenter, Anthony (Pat), John (Chris), Ken, Gail (Trevor) Sparkes, Colleen (Rod) Young, and Vincent (Deanna), Ken’s happiness and pride shone best through his 15 grandchildren Allison, Jill, Danny, Jonathon, Jessica, Michael, Christopher, Tammy, Cory, Brad, Jennifer, Trevor, Katie, Vincent and Maria, along with six great-grandchildren Kennedy, Jack, Emma, Liby, Ava and Abagail. Ken also leaves to mourn a brother Kevin; sisters Mrs. Bride Fucco, Mrs. Aggie Samms, and Mrs. Dorcas Sheppard. Also leaving to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends. The family received family and friends at the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Norris Point on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral mass of christain burial took place on Monday Jan. 11 at the Church of The Good Sheppard in Norris Point with Fr. Adain Devine officiating. The burial followed at the Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in Norris Point. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home and Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. Passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at the age of 62 years (1947-2010) in the VG site QEII in Halifax. Born in Wild Bight, she was the daughter of Emily (Larkin) and the late Nathaniel Decker. Vivian worked as an LPN in the OR for most of her 31 year career, until her retirement. She will be sadly missed by her many close and dear friends. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by her daughter, Darlene (Rod), Chiasson, and their children, Andrew and Emily, Coldbrook; brother Nat (Shirley), St. Anthony; sister Shirley, St. John’s, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her soul mate, Albert Foreman. Cremation has taken place under the care of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). In keeping with Vivian’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Memorial donations can be made to the Special Olympics Nova Scotia/Kings Special Youth Program: SONS, 5516 Spring Garden Road, Site 302, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3J 1G6 (902-429-2266).
