Schools closed on Northern Peninsula and Southern Labrador

The Weather Network has issued a blowing snow advisory for Central Newfoundland.

Road and weather conditions have led to the closure of all the schools on the Northern Peninsula and Southern Labrador Friday.

Many of the weather alerts and warnings have ended, including in the Gros Morne region. 

There is still an active advisory in the Port Saunders and the Straits region, as well as the Northern Peninsula east. Additional snow and high winds are expected to continue throughout the day.

A wind warning is expected to remain in effect until around midnight Friday night on the Northern Peninsula east.

The Mary's Harbour region of Labrador is under a blizzard warning, with an additional warning that travel may be extremely hazardous.
