Keith Way, formerly of Green Island Cove, has another name he goes by on occasion - The Iron Rock.
It's his darts stage name and this September he's heading to England to take part in the World Dart Championships.
A mobile equipment operator with the armed forces, Mr. Way is currently stationed in Edmonton but is about to be transferred to Yellowknife.
He's been playing darts since he was in high school, but only started getting serious about the sport in 2006 when his brother explained the intricacies of the game.
"Then when I moved here to Edmonton I became buddies with Kenny O'Neil, from Nova Scotia, and he's a pro player so that's how I got hooked on it," he told the Pen.
It seems he got hooked pretty good -- currently the armed force is ranked number five in the country.
This is his second trip to the worlds, but Mr. Way is looking for some help in his dream to become a pro darts player.
"Usually they're not until October but ESPN bought the rights to the tournament and they've moved it to September, so now I only have just over a month to raise the money I need to get there," he told the Pen.
As such, he's looking for any help he can get from his "old neighbours back on the rock" to help raise the $3000 he needs to get to the three-day tournament.
"Donations, anything at all that could help," he says.
"My friends over here are holding dart jitnies where you come along, pay $10, play darts and have a barbecue - even little things like that would really help."
If you can help Mr. Way out with his dream of winning the worlds, you can call him on (780) 937-4429, (780 923-9695 or email him at trucker_way@hotmail.com.
