Dear Editor,
The impact of moving the air ambulance service out of St. Anthony will be devastating not only to St. Anthony but to the whole province.
It is extremely disappointing and frustrating that such a move could happen without consultation with the appropriate people. An excellent rated service has been provided for over 50 years and is just taken away. It is almost disrespectful. While Labrador needs an air ambulance service it should not be at our expense. It is now imperative that our Health Board negotiate with our Department of Health upfront and transparently to restore the service to St. Anthony. Decisions of this magnitude should not be based on emotions but based on a common sense approach. It is not necessary to add any more hardships or inconveniences to the people of this region. It is vital that we all stand firm in full support and defense of this service. It is our life-line and in no way should it be taken away. An absolute re-evaluation of the decision must happen immediately.
