I'm from CornerBrook and myself and my mother also witnessed the Orcas when they were in Benoits cove and even caught them on video, my mother gave the video to a friend, who had a friend that worked at the University at the time who confirmed that this was a family of Orcas. Unfortunately we didn't recieve the video back but the memories of the sighting we still talk about together in amazement and what an amazing sight we were privilaged to get to see :)

The last time I saw Orca's was off of Benoit's Cove about 8 years ago. Only a pod of 3, one male, one female and one calf. They spent about a week in the bay chasing seals..then disappeared. It was a truly awesome experience to watch them in action.

We have had Orca Whales as long as I can remember. They gave us a show for many years around Bonavista Bay when the cod and herring were plentiful. Maybe, it is a good indication that the cod are back and the whales love to put on a great show after a good meal of fish. Frank Blackwood Ottawa * Read your newspaper in Calgary this morning.

Identical incident was witnessed on a whale watching tour here in Iceland two years ago when a group of Orcas hunted and killed a minke whale. The interesting thing was that the female Orcas did the killing while the males were waiting along the side. This was the first time that kind of hunt was witnessed here in Iceland.

Very interesting, didn't know we had Orca Whales until we encountered a pod of seven last Saturday off of Champneys West. Verified this when I saw your program on NTV news, on Saturday evening.
