The Black Duck Cove resident is quite content with his 1956 Bombardier R-12 snowmobile. “Right now we are using it at the wood,” Dredge said. “It’s too bad we didn’t have the sleighs hooked up for towing, it’s something to see.” In a previous Northern Pen article, it was noted that the R-12 was produced for mass transit, ambulance service, as a school bus, mail delivery, and for the delivery of foodstuffs and merchandise to isolated areas. They were the last large snowmobiles built by Bombardier for mass transport.
