• April Month - Bird Cove Going Healthy Program: General Health and Fitness runs from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Community Kitchen, Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m.; Kids Day Wednesday and Thursday afternoons; Persons with Special Needs, Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m.; Seniors, Tuesdays between 6:30-9:30 p.m.; Monthly wellness clinics will be held by public health nurse, blood pressure and blood sugar checks and weigh-in, presentations on the monthly health theme and healthy snacks. The Public Health Nurse will be doing a presentation on Cancer Awareness on April 22 at the Community Centre concerning Cancer and its elements. April 21-25 - The Apostolic Faith Church will be holding special services on April 21-25 in the following areas as follows: Roddickton, Wednesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m., Bide Arm, Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m., Englee, Friday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Roddickton, Sunday, April 25 at 11 a.m., and 7 p.m. The guest speaker for the services will be Rev. Wayne Butler from Van Buren, Arkansas, USA. All are welcome. Come and enjoy old time gospel singing, testimonies of victory and the inspiring Word of God.
• April 22 - All volunteers are invited to attend the Sixth Annual Volunteer Appreciation Evening on Thursday, April 22, at these locations: Grenfell Interpretation Centre, St. Anthony at 7 p.m.; Bide Arm Town Hall at 7 p.m.; Plum Point Motel at 7 p.m.; Shallow Bay Motel, Cow Head at 12:30 p.m. For more information contact Gloria Toope at 247-2371 or Mary Coombs at 247-2232.
• April 23 - June 19 - St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Port Saunders is hosting the following events: April 23, Seat Tournament at 8 p.m. in the church basement. Come out and have an evening of fun and you could win a grocery box. Admission $5. Everyone welcome; Sale of pizza for delivery on May 25 and 26. Pizzas $12 each. Anglican Church Women will take your order; June 19, BBQ lunch and yard sale at 11 a.m. If you have any nearly new or good used items that you would like to donate, please call 861-3339.
• April 24 - There will be a Flea Market, Bake Sale, Soup and Sandwich Sale at The Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony on Saturday, April 24, starting at 10 a.m.
• April 25 - A Public Meeting of Alcholics Anonymous will be held on Sunday, April 25, at the Haven Inn, St Anthony at 2:30 p.m.
• April 27 - The St. Anthony Firettes will be hosting a Prize Bingo on Tuesday, April 27, at 8:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall. All patrons must be 19 years of age. Come out and support your local fire department.
• May 1 - The Labrador Society of Ottawa will be holding their Annual Dinner and Dance on Saturday, May 1, at St. Anthony's Hall, St. Anthony and Preston Street, Ottawa. Live music by the Rock an' Roll band-the Heartbeats. Come out and meet your Labrador friends and enjoy a great buffet meal along with an evening of entertainment, and dancing to the music of the 50's and 60's. Everyone Welcome! • Great Brehat Come Home Year - Great Brehat will be celebrating "Come Home Year" on July 26 -31, 2011. • Tuesdays - Craft Night continues at the Grenfell Interpretation Centre on Tuesday nights. All are welcome to come along between 7-9 p.m. Bring along your favourite project and socialize with other crafts people as you work on your craft and share ideas. • Literacy Newfoundland and Labrador - Do you have difficulty reading? Are you looking for a tutoring service or a family learning program? Would you like more information on completing adult basic education or high school equivalency? Literacy Newfoundland and Labrador has information on local programs operating across the province.
