• November 23-25 - The Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) is offering a series of free information sessions for women interested in learning more about Business Beginnings, a free training program designed to help women become successful entrepreneurs by giving them the foundation to create a business plan and offering one-on-one counselling and professional support. An in-person session will take place on Nov. 23 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Corner Brook (93 West St., 2nd Floor), St. John's (NLOWE Head Office, 84-86 Elizabeth Ave., Regatta Plaza II) and Grand Falls-Windsor (Knights of Columbus, Main Street). An online information session will be offered via webinar on Nov. 25 (1:30-2:30 p.m.), which requires access to the Internet. Pre-registration is required for all sessions. • November 24 - The St. Anthony Firettes will be hosting a Prize Bingo on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 8:30 p.m. at the Firehall. Loonie Jar now stands at $937. All patrons must be 19 years of age. Come out and support your Local Fire Department.
November 25 - Grenfell Historical Society Annual General Meeting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Grenfell Interpretation Centre in St. Anthony. Anyone over the age of 18 and recognized groups and/or organizations are eligible to become a member. Three positions from General Membership, including the chair position, and three positions from Group Membership will be open for election at this meeting. • November 25 - Join the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) for a free seminar called "Getting the Most from a Trade Show" from 9-10 a.m. Learn about the importance of preparation, design principles, customizing your booth and attracting a crowd as well as critique examples of what to do and what not to do, offered via Webinar so access to the Internet and a telephone are needed. • November 26 - The St. Anthony Curtis Hospital Auxilary will be holding a Bake Sale at the Viling Mall on Thursday, Nov. 26 starting at 12:30 p.m.
• November 27 - St. Lunaire-Griquet Firettes will be having their Annual Christmas Craft and Bake Sale on Friday, Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. at the Viking Mall in St. Anthony. Come out and support the St. Lunaire-Griquet Fire Department.
• November 27- The Western Regional office of the Canadian Cancer Society will be holding their annual Glistening Gala on Friday, Nov. 27 at the Greenwood Inn and Suites in Corner Brook. This elegant evening features dinner, entertainment, prizes and a live and silent auction. • November 29 - Deck the Halls: 2nd Annual Holiday Festival will be hosted by the Bonne Bay Search and Rescue Team and The Bonne Bay Cottage Hospital Heritige Corporation on Sunday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Julia Ann Walsh Center (formerly the old Bonne Bay Cottage Hospital) in Norris Point, crafts, baked goods and unique gifts will be showcased throughout the day and refreshments will be available. Interested exhibitors may contact Stephanie at 709-458-2198 or by email at stephp1@hotmail.com for information regarding table rentals.
• December 2 - The Grenfell Foundation - South Chapter will be hosting its Annual Tree of Memories event, in conjunction with the annual Tree Lighting at Curtis Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, December 2 at 4 p.m. If anyone wishes to purchase a bulb(s) to be lit in memory of a loved one, please call the Grenfell Foundation office at 454-0244. Also, forms will be available in the local churches in the near future.
• December 11 - The St. Anthony Boys and Girls Club presents the Clark Family in Concert on Friday Dec. 11 at St. Anthony Elementary School at 7 p.m. Due to H1N1, the date has been changes. For tickets or information please call 454-2582 or 449-0247. Tickets are $5 each or $20 per family. All proceeds to support the St. Anthony & Area Boys and Girls Club. A variety of music for the whole family.
• December 12 - The St. Anthony Lions Club Annual Santa Claus Parade will take place on Sat. Dec 12. Floats will line up on the East side at 9:30 a.m. The parade will begin at 10: a.m. sharp and will follow the route to Harriot Curtis Collegiate where Santa will pass out fruit and candy. Awards will be given to the best commercial float, best non-commercial float, best decorated vehicle, best senior clown, best junior clown and participating majorettes. Come out and enjoy the parade.
