• September — With over 750 cleanup sites registered across Canada, it is not too late to register for the 17th annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup as a Site Coordinator or Cleanup Participant. Most shoreline litter originates from land and land-based activities, so by stepping up and signing up, we are all taking action to stop one of the most widespread pollution problems endangering our oceans and waterways. Plus, what peculiar item do you think you’ll find along your shoreline? this year’s Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup takes place from Sept. 18–26, 2010. • September 8 — The GNP Transportation Forum will be held at the Straits Arena Conference Room in St. Barbe from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated as we continue to strive to develop a strong, vibrant business community and economy on the Great Northern Peninsula. • September 15 — The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC) is now accepting applications for its Professional Project Grants Program (for individual artists, groups, and non-profit arts organizations). Deadline: Sept. 15, (projects must start on/after Nov. 15, 2010). • September 17 — Join us at the William Gillett Academy in Charlottetown on Friday, Sept. 17 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. for The Relay for Life. For more information contact: Boyce Turnbull at (709) 949-0366 or Joyce Earle at (709) 949-0558. Come and participate. Help make cancer history!

 

• September 30 — The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council (NLAC) is now accepting applications for its Community Arts Program to support projects by community based non-profit arts organizations and groups. Application deadline: Sept. 30, (projects must start on/after Dec. 1, 2010). • Literacy Newfoundland and Labrador — Do you have difficulty reading? Are you looking for a tutoring service or a family learning program?
