• August — Bird Cove Going Healthy Program: General Health and Fitness runs from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Exercise, walking, T-zone and Wii Fit Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-3 p.m.; Community Kitchen, Mondays from 1-4 p.m.; Kids Day, every Wednesday afternoon; Persons with Special Needs, Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m.; Seniors, Tuesdays between 6:30-9:30 p.m. Monthly Wellness Clinics will be held by public health nurse, blood pressure and blood sugar checks and weigh-in, presentations on the monthly health theme and healthy snacks. • August 24 — Giant Stadium Bingo on Tuesday, Aug. 24. Funds will be used in support of the St. Anthony Junior Girls’ Broomball Team to go to Manitoba for the National Broomball Championships. Time to be announced.
• August 31 — The St. Anthony Firettes will be hosting a prize Bingo on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. at the Fire Hall in St. Anthony. The loonie jar now stands at $204. All patrons must be 19 years of age. Come out and support your local fire department.
• September — With over 750 cleanup sites registered across Canada, it is not too late to register for the 17th annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup as a Site Coordinator or Cleanup Participant. Most shoreline litter originates from land and land-based activities, so by stepping up and signing up, we are all taking action to stop one of the most widespread pollution problems endangering our oceans and waterways. Plus, what peculiar item do you think you’ll find along your shoreline? this year’s Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup takes place from Sept. 18–26, 2010. • September 13 — Newfoundland Labrador’s largest and most popular youth theatre program is now accepting applications into their Fall 2010 semester. TNL provides theatre training for youth aged 6-19 yrs in the basics of acting and stagecraft while also encouraging the development of focus, confidence, and communications skills.
