• August 11 — The students who are working with the Bartlett’s Harbour, Castor River North and South Fire Department will be hosting a Hawaiian dance and games for kids up to age 13 at the school in Castor River South on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. all proceeds from this event will go to the Janeway. Admission $5.00.
• August 31 — St. Anthony Firettes will be hosting a prize Bingo on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. at the Firehall in St. Anthony. The loonie jar now stands at $204. All patrons must be 19 years of age. Come out and support your local fire department.
• September — With over 750 cleanup sites registered across Canada, it is not too late to register for the 17th annual Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup as a Site Coordinator or Cleanup Participant. Most shoreline litter originates from land and land-based activities, so by stepping up and signing up, we are all taking action to stop one of the most widespread pollution problems endangering our oceans and waterways. Plus, what peculiar item do you think you’ll find along your shoreline? this year’s Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup takes place from Sept. 18–26, 2010.
